1) Characteristic: Clothing (Swim Suits)
Swim
suits were designed to cover most of the body. It was one piece because
until the 1920s it was offensive to show arms, legs, or neck. However during the 1920s there was a slight change. The suit
on the left shows the woman's arms and neck, but the rest of the body is
still fully covered by the suit.
There
has been an even larger shift in the styles of swim suits when
comparing the 1920s and the present day. The suit today is in two pieces
and now reveals the legs, stomach, and back. What is considered
appropriate has changed when looking at the two pictures. Women are now
allowed to show more of their skin when wearing swim suits.
