Technology

Then

Now

The differences in technology then and now is major. The technology then was big, not communally used, they had a dial pad we now have touch screens, and we can now can get apps. Back then they had to have them plugged in we don't, we just have to plug them in to charge. There phones were used in the house and in a car. Now we can use most phones where ever we go. They couldn't text, we can. Some of these differences affect our social lives. We would rather text then call most of the time.

Restaurant

Then

Now

Our restaurants are different and similar in a different ways. For example, in the 1920's they had saloons. We now call them bars. Our foods are cooked with microwave ovens, back then thy didn't have them. They cooked a lot of food by hand we use pre-cooked  foods, machines, and different kinds of cooks. Some similarities are we still have old buildings, some places serve alcohol, and we still have restaurants that have waitresses.

Clothes

Then

 Now

A big change happened in clothing styles. Back then they were more conservative, clothing items like skirts for example. They used to wear long socks, closed toed shoes, long skirts and dresses, and buttoned up shirts. Now we wear sandals, short skirts, strapless dresses, and low cut shirts.

Schooling

Then

 Now

Schooling has also gone through many changes. Schools are now bigger, colored, have more race in them, have teams, a curriculum, and different discipline techniques. In the 1920's they had schooling for whites and then other schools for other races, the schools used to be small, and could spank kids. In 2014 we have schools with all different kinds of race in them, the schools are classified now as A, B, C, D, and if you punish students you can't put your hands on them or hit them with something.

Immigration

Then

 Now

Lastly, immigration. Immigration went up then when down now it is coming back up. People come here for jobs, to start a new life, and to get away from situations at home. A lot of kids came, now adults come as often. The process is different coming to America. The conditions are better then they used to be.
